A driving force at VML since 1996, Jon has been CEO since 2011 and served as President from 2007 to 2014. During Jon’s tenure at VML, the agency has grown from 30 employees in Kansas City, Missouri, to more than 1,900 on six continents.
Jon has been an integral part of a leadership team that transformed the agency into a global marketing powerhouse, with expanded digital, mobile, video and social media capabilities. He’s the foremost advocate of VML’s primary objective to be the leading strategic partner for the world’s most forward-thinking brands.
Since 2011, Jon has spearheaded VML’s global expansion, launching full-service operations in Africa, Asia, Australia, Eastern Europe, India and South America to complement agency operations in North America and Western Europe. Major U.S. offices are located in Kansas City, Missouri, New York City, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston and Kalamazoo, Michigan. There are a total of 23 VML offices around the globe.
In his executive leadership role, Jon draws upon years of account experience working with VML client partners such as American Century Investments, Gatorade, Kellogg, Microsoft, Colgate-Palmolive, U.S. Bank, SAP, Southwest Airlines, Wendy’s and many more.
Jon is on the National Advisory Board of the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri. He is also a member of the leadership board of the American Association of Advertising Agencies, the WPP digital advisory board and the Y&R global executive committee. He was named the 2014 Advertising Professional of the Year by the American Advertising Federation (AAF-KC). Additionally, Jon was a finalist in the Ernst & Young 2012 Entrepreneur of the Year award program and serves on multiple corporate boards.
As member of the VML Foundation advisory committee, Jon leads by example by volunteering in the communities where VML operates and by contributing to a wide range of pro bono projects. He is one of the agency’s strongest advocates for VML’s extensive community outreach program. Jon also serves as a board member for the Head for the Cure Foundation, a national organization dedicated to discovering cures for brain cancer.
Jon graduated from the University of Missouri in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism, and he supported the Missouri School of Journalism 2008 centennial program in several leadership capacities.
An avid sports fan, Jon is an active member of VML’s Corporate Challenge athletic teams and is a regular participant in the agency’s Monday evening basketball league. He enjoys playing the piano and spending time with his wife Lisa and their three daughters.
Aden has 10 years’ experience leading digital and innovative campaigns for some of the biggest brands in the country, including: ASICS, Westfield, Dell, Hyundai, BIG W, Emirates, Revlon, Optus, Onitsuka Tiger, amongst others. Aden is founder of Digital Buzz, Australia’s #1 marketing blog.
He is a current FWA and AIMIA judge, and Digital Committee member at The Communications Council.
Betsy joined VML in 2005, during this time she has worked on a number for B2B and B2C clients in Chicago, New York City and now Sydney. Her portfolio of past and present client partners includes Sears, Accenture, Cadbury Schweppes, Colgate-Palmolive, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Jameson and Kellogg’s. With almost 10 years experience, both globally and locally, she brings a wealth of Account Management experience to the team.
Betsy joined the VML Australia team after its launch in February 2012 as Sr Digital Account Director working on key clients such as Kellogg's and new business.
Betsy graduated from the S.I Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University.
Outside the office, she enjoys travelling, hiking and running.
Mark has over eight years experience in digital planning, innovation and social media strategy in Sydney and Los Angeles. Mark has a history of giving international brands a local flavour, having worked with Kellogg's, Colgate, Revlon, Emirates and Jameson Irish Whiskey. He has also worked with some of Australia’s biggest brands, Telstra, Rip Curl, Commonwealth Bank and the National Rugby League.
Mark attained a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing, International Relations) from Bond University and was recently awarded the B&T 30 Under 30 Award for Digital.
Outside of work hours Mark is a serial digital entrepreneur and blogger.
Natalie has ten years experience as a digital producer, both on the agency and client side. Natalie has worked with clients such as Kellogg’s, Suncorp Bank, Revlon and Colgate on both enterprise wide and campaign-based projects. On the client side she has worked and the Westpac Group, responsible for online sales conversion and user experience.
At VML, Natalie leads a team of 15 producers with a focus on best practice digital production and the management of bringing emerging technology to market.
